The Hunt For The Unknown Sticker Part 1 - The Beginnings
During an advising meeting on May 7, I noticed an Uno-style sticker on my advisor’s desk. I asked where she got them and she thought someone from the Degree Partnership Program upstairs at Linn-Benton was handing them out.
To begin my search, I wanted to be sure it was the DPP, so my search began at the First Resort in Takena Hall. They told me they had never seen them before and suggested the Student Leadership Council.
I went to the SLC and asked if they had ever seen this sticker before and they also said no, but added that it would be a good idea for a future sticker to give out during their events. The trail went cold from there.
I sat in contemplation. Where should I go next in my search?
I thought journalism instructor Rob Priewe in North Santiam Hall might have a lead somewhere. He suggested the LBCC Foundation or First Resort, mind you, I already started there.
I thanked Rob for my next set of leads and I couldn’t remember where the Foundation was. Going with my original set of thoughts, I decided to hit the Library and met one of the librarians, Jesse Genco.
Jesse was very nice in locating the Foundation’s office and bribed me with a Kit Kat to get another sticker for her. Later I gave her my sticker as a thank you.
Per her request, be sure to visit the library more for all your study needs!
When I reached the Foundation, I walked in and asked the receptionist, Tricia Woods, about the stickers. She led me to Matt Scotton's office, as he is the public information officer and external communications person for Linn-Benton. Matt also was very nice and knew exactly where the sticker came from!
He suggested I talk to Nick May at the Degree Partnership for more information, as he was the one who commissioned the stickers in the first place.
Matt gave me a brief run down, and told me that the idea originated from Oregon State University and from their student art department. Linn-Benton’s DPP office liked the idea so much that they commissioned a graphics design class at LB to promote LBCC and the DPP during their events for high school students.
Once we reached the DPP office, it was closed and May was out on an assignment. I sent Nick an email to meet up for these stickers and more backstory.
So this is where the story ends, for now!
